Luigi serves as one of 4 playable characters in this game, alongside Mario, Princess Peach and Toad. While not part of the main story, Luigi is used by the second player in this game's multiplayer mode, and within it, assumes the same plot role and functionality as Mario, travelling through the Mushroom Kingdom to save Princess Peach from Bowser and his army of Koopas, who have invaded it. He is always in Mario's shadow and doesn't always get recognized by people easily, usually being referred to as Mario's brother or Green Stache, though despite that, he still has a fanbase as shown in Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. Luigi is usually described as a coward and Mario's shadow. In the Anime Super Mario Bros.: The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach, Luigi wore blue overalls, with a yellow shirt, and a blue hat with a yellow letter 'L' on it. ![]() ![]() In the Mario TV series, Luigi wore green overhauls, a blue long-sleeve shirt, and had green eyes and black hair. Like Mario, Luigi has brown hair, blue eyes, and has a mustache that's much more smooth compared to Mario's. As a twin, he wears the same clothes that Mario wears, but generally wears darker blue overalls, although that's not always the case such as in the Mario & Luigi series, while he also wears a green cap with the letter L printed on it and a green long-sleeve shirt and brown shoes. Luigi is thinner and slightly taller than his brother.
